Introduction
Set in a
rural location with views over the Berkshire Downs. Our aim is to exceed
the needs of all of our guests. However, there may be some features which
could make access to some of our facilities difficult for people with
limited mobility. We have 4 luxury guest bedrooms, all ensuite, 3 of
which are located on the first floor and the fourth is on the ground
floor.
Pre-arrival
- We
are located beside the A420, 2 miles from
Shrivenham and 1 mile from Faringdon.
- The
nearest bus stop is approximately 200m. Regular bus services to Oxford
and Swindon run past the door and we can provide you with a timetable if
required.
- The
nearest train station is Swindon (11 miles) which is on the mainline to
London Paddington.
- There
are a number of local Taxi companies, please ask us for their contact
details.
- We
have 2 dogs and 6 cats who are very friendly. If you are allergic or do
not like dogs or cats, please let us know.
Arrival &
Parking
- Please advise us of your anticipated time of arrival so that we can be
available to welcome you.
- There
is a large illuminated sign at the end of the drive.
- Car
parking is the spacious tarmac area to the front of the house and
further parking is available to the side and is a gravelled surface,
both areas are well lit with sensor lights and covered by CCTV.
- The
entrance porch is well lit and is at the front of the house. There is a 3" step into the
porch and a further 6" step into the house. A ramp for wheelchair access
is available.
- We
will be happy to assist with any luggage.
- Upon
arrival, should there not be a response at the front door, please call
the number on the notice in the porch.
- You
will be provided with a key to your room and to the front door.
Dining Room
- The
dining room is accessed from the front hallway, as are the stairs to the
first floor.
- There
is a fridge in the dining room with complimentary soft drinks.
- Breakfast is served in the dining room.
Bedrooms –
General
- All
bedrooms are carpeted.
- All
bedrooms have individually thermostatically controlled radiators and
towel rails in the bathrooms.
- All
rooms have remote controlled flat screen digital colour televisions with
built in Freeview.
- All
rooms have a Radio/CD alarm clock on a bedside cabinet.
- All
rooms are provided with a cordless kettle and hospitality tray with a
selection of teas, coffee and biscuits.
- All
rooms have dimmable light control switches beside the door.
- Tea
and coffee making facilities are available within each room.
- All
beds are made with duvets. All bed linen is 100% cotton. Duvets and
pillows are man made.
- Each
bed has a bedside cabinet with bedside lamp at the same level as the
bed.
- Each
room also has a hairdryer and extra blankets / pillows are available on
request.
- Fans
are provided for the summer months.
- Water
in the bathrooms is softened and bottled water for drinking is provided
in the fridge in the dining room.
Double / Twin
Bedroom with Ensuite (Room 1)
- This
bedroom is located on the ground floor and is South facing. There are
vertical blinds as well as curtains for privacy.
- There
are 4 raised height electrical sockets to comply with the regulations
for the disabled.
- The
ensuite comprises a large shower cubicle with a 6” step up into it, wash
hand basin with large vanity unit and WC and shaver point and heated
towel rail and a well lit large mirror. An anti slip mat is available
for the shower.
- The
ensuite floor is cushioned vinyl.
- There
is an opening window.
- In
addition to the beds and bedside cabinets, the room includes a writing
desk with chair, and a wardrobe.
Double / Twin
Bedroom with Ensuite (Room 2)
- This
bedroom is located on the first floor and is South facing. There are 14 steps to the first
floor with banister rails on both sides.
- Guests over 6ft may have to duck slightly to clear the beam at the
bottom of the stairs.
- In
addition to the beds and bedside cabinets, the room includes a hanging
rail and shelf and a writing desk with chair.
- The
shower room includes a large shower cubicle with a 6” step up, a WC and
wash hand basin with large vanity unit, shaver point and heated towel
rail and a well lit large mirror. An anti slip mat is available for the
shower.
- The
ensuite floor is cushioned vinyl.
- There
is an opening window.
Double / Twin
Bedroom with Ensuite (Room 3)
- This
bedroom is located on the first floor opposite Room 2 and is South
facing.
- In
addition to the beds and bedside cabinets, the room includes a hanging
rail and shelf and a writing desk with chair.
- The
bathroom includes a deep enameled bath with a wall mounted shower with
glass showerscreen, a WC and wash hand basin with large vanity unit,
shaver point and heated towel rail and a well lit large mirror. An anti
slip mat is available for the bath / shower.
- The
ensuite floor is cushioned vinyl.
- There
is an opening window.
Double / Twin
Bedroom with Ensuite (Room 4)
- This
bedroom is located on the first floor at the end of the landing and is
East facing, a blackout blind is fitted to the window for those with an
intolerance to early morning sunlight.
- In
addition to the beds and bedside cabinets, the room includes a hanging
rail and shelf and a writing desk with chair.
- The
bathroom includes a luxurious deep contoured bath with a wall mounted
shower with shower curtain, a WC and wash hand basin with large vanity
unit, shaver point and heated towel rail and a very large well lit
mirror. An anti slip mat is available for the bath / shower.
- The
ensuite floor is cushioned vinyl.
- There
is an opening window in the bathroom.
- This
room has access to the balcony / fire escape with table and chairs.
Garden & Patio
Area
- We
have a large front and rear gardens, which include lawns, flower beds,
patio areas with seating, summerhouse, and vegetable patches. There is
of course the 36’ x 18’ heated swimming pool with removable solar cover,
the infra red sauna and indoor spa which are all available for guests to
enjoy.
- We
have some pet chickens that roam the garden and there are ferrets and
rabbits in their hutches beside the stable block.
- Guests are welcome to use the patio area, there is a chimenea which can
be lit on request. Please be aware that the patio area can become
slippery when wet.
- The
garden is accessed via the parking area beside the house, which is
gravelled.
Additional
Information
- The
house is fully equipped with a integrated wireless smoke detection
system with the addition of break glass points on the ground floor hall
wall and first floor landing wall.
- In
the event of a fire, the smoke alarms will sound in all rooms. Please
make your way down the stairs or out of the fire exit on the first floor
landing and outside to the front of the stables. Fire instruction
notices are fixed to the inside of the doors of all bedrooms. The Fire
Exit is provided with emergency lighting
- There
are powder fire extinguishers on the ground and first floor landings.
- We do
not permit smoking in the house but ashtrays are provided outside.
- We
can cater for special dietary requirements. Please advise us of these
before your arrival.
- Complimentary
Wireless Broadband is available in all rooms.
- The
house is fully double glazed with laminated safety glass and has full
central heating which is on demand all year round. The walls and loft
are heavily insulated for your comfort.
- We
have a highly efficient dual Megaflow, recirculating hot water system
which provides mains pressure hot water to all rooms.
- There
is a substantial safe for your valuables should you wish to use it.
- A
laundry and ironing service is available.
- We
are happy to refrigerate any medicines.
- Dogs
are welcome, but only by prior arrangement.
- Guests are welcome to relax in the grounds
